I hope you all are as excited to have Karen McTavish come speak to us! Karen's evening presentation, which is our joint meeting with the Edmond guild, will be at 7 pm on TUESDAY 17 June at the Atkinson Theatre at Rose State College in Midwest City (main entrance on the south side of SE 15th St between Sooner and Air Depot). Visitors (non-members of Norman guild or Edmond guild) will be charged a $5 lecture fee for Karen's presentation. If you enter the campus at the main entrance and "aim" yourself at what looks like the main pathway (the turning circle) you will come across some "You are here" signage that should help you find the theatre. Alternatively, you can find a campus map near the end of the student handbook that is published on the Rose State College website (look under RSC Documents). Or you can use the attached map I got from the student handbook, on which I believe that "TH" designates the theatre.
Karen will also be giving a workshop on designing and marking for whole-cloth quilting. The workshop will be held from 9 am to 4 pm at St John's United Methodist Church at 1755 N. Meridian on Tuesday, 17 June. The workshop fee is $35. We still have some places left in the class, so if you'd like to attend please contact me at 912-4253 (home phone), 664-7898 (cell phone), or . The class supply list is short, so I'm going to list it here:
4-8 Mark-B-Gone Blue Pens (not fine line, only blue water-soluble pens)
Fabric – white or off white, washed and pressed. No larger than 60 x 60. Tone-on-Tone is okay.
(Squaring up must be done before class)
Omnigrid rulers, long rulers of any size with ¼ inch markings.
Clover Eraser Pens and Mark-B-Gone Pens can be purchased in class from instructor.
July's program is a "secret" until our next newsletter (I have a few possibilities; I'm still not certain which one is "it"). In August, we're going to devote our entire day and evening on Monday the 18th to working on our Community Projects quilts - so plan to come when you can and work as long as you choose, your sewing machine will be a help but I believe the Community Projects "experts" will be able to occupy your hands whether or not you bring your machine.

From time to time in the past, NAQG members have had something to sell that has been mentioned in the general body of the Newsletter at no charge to the member. Beginning next month the NAQG Quilters Edge will add a new column dedicated to: Items for sale, trade or to give away, including Items members are looking for and wish to acquire. These items must be sewing related, quilt related, art supplies, including machinery, equipment and furniture. Access to this column will be a members only privilege and it will be accessible on the web-site by NAQG members only. This column is not intended to support a business and while this will be a free service offered to members it is not meant to replace or compete with our advertisers. They have a permanent, paid for, business ad section in the Quilters Edge and on the web site for an established business.
You may send any items for listing, or questions, to Ruth Leidy. Next month the Column will have a name. The appropriateness of all ads will be at the discretion of the Editor of NAQG Quilters Edge.
Membership
Nancy Baysinger
I heard that everyone had a good time at May's meeting. I'm sorry that I had to leave early and could not participate in the game night. Since June's meeting is on June 17, at Rose State, I will not have membership cards or directories with me. I will be there with sign in sheets.
We currently have 128 members, and are having more visitors come to see what we do, so hopefully they will also become members.
See you at Rose State.

The Community Projects Committee will not meet in June. The church will be using that room for Vacation Bible School. I regret the short notice but since I was away for three weeks, I was literally the last to know. Use the time at home to rest, read, quilt and reflect on the good our quilts do.
See you in July.
Be ready for July. There will be no shopping this month – at Ways and Means tables.
There is no Fat Quarter Lotto either.
Wonderful Retreat Weekend
Jaquita Moore
The Purcell First Tuesday Quilters spent April 25-25 at the LeRetreat House in Gainesville, TX. Those going for the weekend were: (L to R) Sue Hurt, Janone McCoy, Linda Wood, Barbara Carroll, Jaquita Moore, Bonnie White , Shirley Dixon, Roberta Trammell, Sue Lilley, and Betty Brady.
Besides quilting, everyone enjoyed shopping at the area quilt shops, restaurants, as well as viewing the Historical Homes only a few blocks away.
It was the first time the group had been at this house for a retreat. It was a really nice place and lots of projects were in the making. In fact, we all liked it so much that another retreat weekend is already on the calendar for October.
