DON'T FORGET- IT IS MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL TIME!
Thanks to all members who printed out the renewal form and brought it to the Christmas Party. It allowed me to enjoy the party and food. I hope everyone had as good a time as I did.
If you have not renewed for 2008 yet, it is time to do so. If at all possible please print the membership form from the website and fill it out. If you are a current member, and have no changes to make on the form, you may just note no change on it, but if you have a change of information, please fill in the form. Remember this is the info that will go in the directory, so it needs to be correct. Please bring the form to the Jan. 21st, 2008 meeting along with cash or a check for $20.00. If you are unable to attend the Jan. meeting you may mail it to me directly (my correct address is in the directory), or to the NAQG post office box. I will be checking the mail frequently.
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR RENEWAL IN NO LATER THAN FEB. 18, 2008 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR INCLUSION IN THE DIRECTORY.
Nancy Baysinger, Membership Chairman
My understanding is that Jim Kenderdine is out of intensive care and into a regular room at Norman Regional, but he still has to undergo another surgery to remove more of the damaged tissue in his leg.Keep Earlene and Jim in your prayers. It is going to be a long, slow recovery.Ruth
Quilt Show 2008WE NEED QUILTS!!!!
The deadline to get your quilt entry forms in for our show is January 31. You do not have to have your quilt finished by then, just be reasonably certain it will be finished by mid April and don't forget to let us know the size.
In order to have a good show we must have plenty of quilts. So far I have been under whelmed by the number of entries! With all the wonderful quilts we see during show and share each month, I know there are lots of nice quilts to be shared with the larger community at our show. The easiest way to get your entry* to me is hand it to me at our January guild meeting. Or else you can mail it to me.

Bazaar Happenings....Georjana MauldinIt is crunch time. We have great plans to make many things, such as sewing machine covers, sewing machine aprons, quilt journals, thread catchers, cell phone purses, iron cozies, quilted post cards, orphan blocks, etc. We have an eleven item list of various things that are definitely "What Quilters Need." We will meet during one of my small groups that meet on Wednesday Nights - beginning this month on the 23rd from 5pm to 9pm at McFarlin room 401. We'd love to have you there. We also need help on some materials. We could use:- 1/2 yard fabrics or larger,- 1/2 yard batting scraps or bigger, - embellishments (buttons, thimbles- ribbons, charms, beads, etc,)- thermal batting for iron coversAnd Your Time. We need volunteers to stitch at home or at our meetings. I hope you are as excited about the up-and-coming quilt show as I am. This is something we can work on now for our guild to bring in money, and help develop closer ties and friendships among us..
Thank you so very much,
ProgramsSabrina DiehlHappy New Year!Happy Birthday! The Norman Area Quilters Guild is another year older.I just don’t know how that happens so quickly. In January we will be installing our new officers and we will be hosting Becky Lambert from Becky’s Stitch in Time of Chickasha. She will be presenting a program on family quilts. Please be sure to come early as Becky will also be vending before the show so come check out her new fabrics.Be sure to sign up for our upcoming March workshop. We are excited to have Janet Noeves share her knowledge and experience with Seminole Piecing.Signup sheets will be at the January guild meeting.Thank you to Brenda Daniel who has graciously volunteered to take over Programs for the new year. She brings enthusiasm and energy to the position so we should look forward to some great programs this year.
Community ProjectsWilma DeBerryAs many of you know Diane Miller has stepped down as Chairperson for the Community Quilts Committee and I am her successor.I am excited and a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of this new venture. Thanks to Diane's considerate invitation, I have made my first deliveries to both Mary Abbot House and the Crossroads facility. The generosity of this guild and its individual members is something about which we can all be proud. As we look to the future of this good work, it is my earnest hope that I can find ways to facilitate a greater opportunity for participation and involvement by all our members.I thank you for this trust and hope to see all of you at the special work day planned for Saturday, January 19, at McFarlin. We will set up at 8:00 am and will be there until 7:00 pm.As always, this will be a come and go so please try to work in a bit of quilting with us.Bring your sewing machine and supplies and we will furnish the fabric, batting and patterns.Hope to see you there.
WAYS and MEANSAdrianne FoxHAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!OK, did any of you make resolutions to clean your sewing rooms?Well, I didn't but I was looking for a book that I had purchased but couldn't find where I had put it for safe keeping. However, I did find other things I had totally forgotten I had! What fun. It was just like Christmas over again. If you have cleaned your sewing room and have things for Ways and Means just bring your things to the meeting on the 21st and I will be happy to relieve you of them.
Ways and Means will have a table at our quilt show in May so I am looking for some 'gems' to offer our attendees. I am also looking for people to volunteer to help me man the table for an hour or so.If you would like to help, please let me know.
A HUGE THANK YOU!!!Speaking as a McFarlin UMC member, I want to say thank you so very much for all the food donations that you brought in November and December. It is “hard times” for many residents in Norman, and they appreciate the help.Thank you again for such a generous outpouring of donations. It is true that quilters have big hearts.Sincerely,
Georjana Mauldin
